What is Digital Forensics and Security?

Over the past few years there has been a massive growth and development in the world of technology. Although when we sit back and think about it, these tech developments have really aided us in our personal lives as well as our businesses, they are also being used for bad! Tech growth is not only positive, but also an easy way for scammers and criminals to steal your precious data, private information and hard-earned money,

In order to hide their crimes, cyber criminals will use complex operations, tools, and software. So, when it comes to finding these criminals and the crimes they’ve committed, the digital forensics team that are supposed to be investigating the activities need to keep up – if they do not have the correct skills and expertise similar to the criminals they will simply get away.

In this day and age we are seeing digital forensics investigators that are on a much higher level, those that can easily track cyber criminals and their criminal activities. Just like in the real world, those online leave tracks that can be traced called “digital footprints” – these tracks are vital!

At TCG Digital Forensics, we provide evidence to law enforcement when needed in their investigations; however, we also offer our digital forensics services to attorneys, auditors, accountants and private investigators in South Africa.

When it comes to cyber security, how is it important in the digital forensics field? Those involved in cybersecurity will have to do what they can to offer protection to the organization/investigators involved. Those on the cybersecurity team will show those involved how the cybercrime was committed, who was a part of the crime and the most crucial part of all – how to avoid it happening again!

The evidence that digital forensics experts discover and collect is so important as it gives the team knowledge and advice on how to move forward, as well as find out why they did it and how to track the cybercriminals in the future.
